Preparing for Oz

Hello everyone!

There's not much to report on from this week show wise. We had a well deserved 4 days off after a tough tech week and we came back rested and ready for weekend 2! The second weekend of shows were really great! We had 3 amazing audiences that really gave us all energy on stage.

This being the second weekend of shows brings one pretty cool thing that ACT does for every production. It is called "Descriptive Audio for the Sight Impaired" or "DASI." These are people that the theatre brings in and describes the show for folks who are sight impaired. The DASI folks sit in one of our spot booths and describes the action that is happening on stage, what the sets look like, and what the costumes look like into a microphone that transmits into an earpiece for those who signed up for DASI so that they can experience the show that they may not be able to if it wasn't in place. This is a really cool experience that the theatre offers and I think it is something that is really special that we do for those who are sight impaired.

There was one cool opportunity that was given to the cast this weekend. Mark Jones' sister and brother-in-law have a hot air balloon (how cool is that!) and offered tethered rides to the cast and their families. I was not able to make it due to rehearsal for another show, but the pictures from those who went look spectacular!

While there wasn't much to speak of when it comes to the shows, there was a lot of fun things happening backstage. So much so, there are two videos this week. I take you all with me throughout my process of getting ready for the show. From waking up (quite literally), to getting to the theatre, and the start of the show, and everything in between. I talk to a number of cast members to see what they do before shows and what other traditions they've come across in their careers!

The show runs until October 27th. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30p, with Sunday shows starting at 2:30p. Thursdays shows (October 17th & 24th) also starts at 7:30p. Theatre doors open 30 minutes before the show starts and there is a great selection at our concession stand! As always, if you have any questions for me or anyone else with the show, comment on the blog, YouTube video, Facebook, or if you’re on Instagram or Twitter, send questions to me @theonejohno #AskTheWizard#AskTheWizard.

Until next time...
